Bolte Bridge - City Link, Melbourne

Douglas Partners were geotechnical consultants to Baulderstone Hornibrook for construction of the Western Link freeway in Melbourne. The Bolte Bridge was an important section of the freeway.


Here Douglas Partners provided value to their client by:

- Devising an alternative foundation design which involved driven steel tube piles to bedrock at 50m to 55m depth, about 20m deeper than other major bridges and buildings in Melbourne.

- Developing with the client a design and construction risk management strategy for the piling works.

- Applying innovative piling technology previously used for construction of Offshore Platforms to a land based project.
