Douglas Partners (DP) Brisbane office played a significant role in one of Queensland's largest recent projects, the South East Transit Project DP were involved in:

Package 1B - South Brisbane
August 1999 - September 2000

The package involved the construction of the 3km long, two lane Busway for Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd. Construction included bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, pavements and drainage works. Services provided by DP Brisbane office included:

- Compliance and compaction control testing for fill and pavement materials

- Specialist laboratory and in situ soil shear strength and permeability testing

- Load bearing pile and foundation inspections

- Temporary slope stability assessments

- Sheet pile wall design and inspections

- Latent condition claims for rock excavation

- Management of environment issues

- Tunnel inspections and rock level mapping

- Pavement assessments for tunnel entries

- Movement monitoring of structures potentially undermined by tunneling


Package 1C - South Brisbane
March 2000 - September 2000

The package included the widening of Boundary St and the construction of bus lanes and bus shelters.

Services provided for BDM Constructions - Major Projects Pty Ltd included:

Compliance and compaction control testing for fill and pavement materials

Load bearing pile and foundation inspections

Concrete testing

Package 4 - Eight Mile Plains
March 1999 - December 2000

Geo-consultanting services were provided to Henry Walker Contracting for the construction of the 5.7km, two lane Busway including widening 6km of the South East Freeway. Bridges, retaining walls, RSS walls and drainage works were also constructed. Services provided:

- Laboratory testing and geotechnical support for all pavement, earthworks and retaining wall construction.

- Geo consulting and testing services by up to 14 on site engineers and technicians,

- Specialist testing including in situ and laboratory soil shear strength and permeability to establish suitability of RSS wall fill material.

- Environmental consulting and testing including acid sulphate soils and site contamination were also managed

- The earthworks for the RSS wall were certified by a DP RPEQ

- DP also addressed soil disposal issues and designed a 25m high spoil disposal area.

Package Service: DP supplied a comprehensive package of geotechnical, environmental, groundwater and laboratory services meeting all project requirements.

Rapid Mobilisation: A fully NATA accredited West End office/laboratory facility was located less than 5km from the site. This enabled DP to respond rapidly to clients needs and also promoted easy liaison with clients.

RPEQ Certification: RPEQ Certification was provided for retaining structures and foundations.

Full-time Geotechnical On-site Support: 'On the spot' approval was provided temporary slope stability assessments, pile and other
