Logan Motorway, QLD

Pavement Rehabilitation Design

Client: Maunsell McIntyre Pty Ltd and John Holland Construction and Engineering Pty Ltd
Duration: April 2001

Douglas Partners (DP) Brisbane office undertook an analysis of pavement rehabilitation for a 17km section of the westbound lanes of the Logan Motorway. The rehabilitation design was undertaken for the original constructor of the carriageway, John Holland Construction and Engineering Pty Ltd, at the request of Maunsell McIntyre Pty Ltd.

Client Benefits

Design: The 17km section comprised a flexible pavement with a thin asphalt surface layer. The carriageway was divided into distinct sections on the basis of visual assessment of the pavement, representative deflection data (i.e. PAVDEF survey) provided by Queensland Department of Main Roads and condition survey reports supplied by Maunsell McIntyre Pty Ltd. Each section was analysed and a suitable asphalt overlay was determined to ensure the pavement would meet the original design life.

Other Services: This work allowed John Holland Construction and Engineering Pty Ltd to propose suitable cost effective rehabilitation of the westbound carriageway to meet its original design life or an extended design life which was being considered.
