EASTLINK, Victoria

Largest ever road project in Australia, costing over $2.5 billion, for tollway concessionair ConnectEast. The six lane tollway and associated links involves 45kms of freeway-standard road running from Mitcham to the Frankston Freeway, and forms a major part of Greater Melbourne's arterial transport network.

DP contributed to the project as geotechnical consultant for PB Hyder, CW-DEC and Thiess-John Holland Joint Venture. Work included :-

  • Advice on design and design verification
  • Investigation for brdige structures, retaining walls, noise attenuation walls and other structures
  • Ground water reporting
  • Earthworks, ground water and soils testing
  • Slope stability assessments
  • Review of pile testing
  • New pavement alternatives, pavement condition assessment and rehabilitation options
  • External stability of reinforced soil walls
  • Construction inspections and advice on heavy crane lifts
  • Wide range of laboratory testing
