Alan is a graduate in science and has specialised in the natural resource areas of environmental science, land use planning and related environmental disciplines during his employment with the Queensland State government and private consulting. His work involves the investigation, monitoring and remediation of environmental situations including soil, groundwater, surface water, air, noise, ground vibration, soil gas, etc.
Alan is an accredited Suitably Qualified Person for site contamination work and is also a licensed Asbestos Assessor in Queensland.
His responsibilities include technical support for environmental services, in particular tendering and reporting. Alan’s projects have included some of the largest public and private developments and operations such as the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, South East Busway, Metroplex-on-Gateway, BP refinery, Hilton Hotel Surfers Paradise, and many others. Many of the projects have been on Department of Defence sites such as RAAF Base Amberley and Gallipoli Barracks Enoggera, as well as airport sites including the Brisbane, Cairns and Mackay airports.
Environmental outcomes have included contaminated site documents, environmental impact statements, environmental management plans, review of environmental factors, environmental audits, erosion and sediment control plans etc for all industry sectors.
Alan has provided expert evidence in court proceedings for approximately 20 cases.
