Jane Smalley

Associate / Environmental Engineer

Jane is an associate of Douglas Partners with over 10 years’ experience in environmental engineering consulting. She completed her Environmental Engineering degree at Wollongong University in 2005 with Honours. During her time at university, Jane worked in a small structural and civil engineering consultancy on the South Coast of NSW and following graduation started work at Wollongong’s Steel Works.

Jane commenced her employment with Douglas Partners in June 2006 in the Wollongong Branch as a Graduate Engineer. During her time in Wollongong, Jane was appointed Project Manager and was Environmental Group Manager prior to transferring to Douglas Partners’ Brisbane Branch in November 2012. Jane was appointed Associate in February 2013 and Environmental Group Manger in July 2014. In October 2015, Jane attained her Chartered Professional Engineer status (CPEng) and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) shortly thereafter.

Jane has worked on numerous greenfield development sites in Shellharbour, Western Dapto, Western Sydney, South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. As well as brownfield sites including service stations, mechanical workshops, railways yards, landfills, heavy industrial manufacturing, food processing plants, mine sites around Wollongong, Port Kembla, Southern Highlands, South Coast of NSW, Inner City Brisbane, Newstead, West End, Ipswich, Sunshine and Gold Coast. Jane has also work on infrastructure developments around Wollongong, Port of Brisbane and Sunshine Coast.

Her areas of expertise include contaminated land investigations, remediation planning and implementation, remediation monitoring, site validation, removal of land from the Queensland’s Environmental Management Register, environmental monitoring and waste classification.
