Karen is an Associate at Douglas Partners with over 10 years experience in a broad spectrum of environmental consulting.
She completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) Degree with Honours at Griffith University in 1999 before heading overseas to live and work in Germany. She commenced employment with Douglas Partners on her return to Australia in early 2008. She has continued to further her education and has recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Science (Groundwater Hydrology) at Flinders University in 2014 and became a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) in 2015.
Karen has worked primarily in the Douglas Partners Brisbane office, and was the branch Quality Coordinator from 2011 until 2017. She has experience in conducting environmental investigations for clients ranging from small landholders to major international airports and industrial facilities. Her areas of expertise include: contaminated land investigations; remediation planning and implementation; hydrogeological investigations; acid sulfate soil investigations and management; erosion and sediment control planning and audits; as well as drilling supervision and well installation. She also develops site-based environmental management plans and has contributed to environmental impact assessments for major tourism and infrastructure developments. Karen's duties in her current role as an Associate and Project Manager range from the scoping and costing of projects through to project implementation and remediation, and preparation of reports to a standard suitable for third-party audit and submission to government authorities.
