Claremont on the Park

The ‘Claremont on the Park’ development is located in the north-eastern area of Claremont and comprises a redevelopment of the former grandstand and viewing areas surrounding Claremont Football Oval, a council depot and Claremont train station car park, across a 9.4 ha site. The development will provide up to 750 new homes including buildings up to seven above ground storeys with two level basements.

Our geotechnical specialists were initially engaged by LandCorp to undertake a site investigation to assess the feasibility of the site, its risks and its opportunities to support multi-storey developments. Challenges which were overcome during the investigation phase included the protection of existing buried services, minimising disturbance of the oval playing surface (home of the Tigers football club), car park and depot, liaising with a variety of stakeholders across the sites, and maintaining public access and amenity.

Our specialist pavement team carried out a detailed assessment of the existing roads within the precinct, to provide recommendations on pavement upgrades and new pavement profile designs to support the increased traffic flows associated with the development

As the development progressed, Douglas Partners provided detailed geotechnical investigations to assist with the design of multi-storey buildings within the site, including advice on ground improvement, basement retention design, and foundation design including piles and shallow foundations.

Douglas Partners worked closely with the civil and structural engineers, and the earthworks and construction contractors to assist in a successful delivery of the project.
