Environmental Engineer / Scientist

Coorparoo, Brisbane QLD

About the Role

Our Brisbane office is seeking a motivated Environmental Engineer / Scientist with 3-5 years’ experience in the remediation and contaminated land sector.

This role offers a balance of fieldwork and technical reporting, with opportunities to work alongside senior industry professionals on diverse projects across South-East Queensland.

Initial parental leave cover with potential for ongoing work.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior principals to plan and deliver environmental projects, including site assessments, investigations, and reporting.
  • Support the preparation of proposals and scopes of work, ensuring alignment with client needs and project objectives.
  • Undertake field investigations, including sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment for contaminated land assessments.
  • Assist in managing subcontractors (e.g. drillers, excavators, service locators), ensuring safe and efficient site work.
  • Log and document subsurface and contamination conditions during site visits, ensuring data quality and compliance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of high-quality technical reports under the guidance of senior staff, including preliminary and detailed site investigations.
  • Apply relevant Queensland and Australian guidelines in the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites.
  • Maintain strong WHS practices and promote a safety-first culture on site and in the office.
  • Build collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients, supporting the delivery of successful project outcomes.

 

About You

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, adaptable and thrives in a team environment. You’ll also bring:

  • Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology;
  • 3-5 years’ experience in contaminated land and remediation;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Understanding of environmental compliance and regulatory frameworks;
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities;
  • High attention to detail and quality;
  • Willingness to undertake fieldwork and occasional regional travel;
  • Demonstrated progress toward CEnvP (Site Contamination) or Certified Professional Soil Scientist is highly regarded.
