Junior Geotechnical Engineer (Grad-3 years’ experience)

What the role is

Our Sydney office is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer with Graduate – 3 years’ experience to join our Geotechnical Engineering team.

In this role, you will complement our consulting group so that projects continue to run efficiently and effectively, thus ultimately maintaining clients’ satisfaction while developing your engineering geology and geotechnical consulting skills.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship from industry experts, and contribute to impactful projects in a supportive and innovative environment.

Your role will include (but not limited to):

  • Conducting field investigation work, including logging of boreholes and test pits, carrying out construction inspections and in-situ testing to assess ground conditions using ‘best practice’ methods;
  • Manage a variety of subcontractors (such as drilling rigs, CPT rigs, service locators, etc) and be responsible of the successful completion of the work within allotted timeframes and budgets;
  • Scheduling laboratory testing;
  • Conducting slope risk assessments;
  • Using Slope/W and other specialised software to carry out analyses;
  • Adhering to relevant Work Health and Safety requirements;
  • Preparing proposals by scoping investigations to target project outcomes and client requirements; and
  • Preparing technical reports.

 

Given the variety of project work available throughout the year, there is a mix of fieldwork and office-based time.

About You

Graduate-3 years’ experience in the industry and a degree in:

  • Sciences – Geology; or
  • Engineering – Civil, Geotechnical.

 

Other criteria

  • Australian driver’s licence;
  • Enjoy working onsite and in the office;
  • Interest in continued learning and building your career in the engineering geology / geotechnical / environmental / groundwater and earthworks.
