The team at Douglas Partners is committed to recognising, respecting and celebrating diversity and inclusion by enriching a culture that supports and encourages all employees.
We acknowledge that diversity and inclusion contributes to successful innovation in an ever-changing world by recognising and providing solutions from different perspectives. Simultaneously, this provides the opportunity for all staff to harness their full potential, regardless of gender.
In recognition of IWD2020 and our ongoing commitment to #EachforEqual, our people told us what this theme means to them and the impact an enabled world would have in their lives.
What is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women worldwide, raising awareness about gender equality, and advocating for women’s rights. Since the first International Women’s Day in the early 20th century, this day has inspired countless women to break barriers and encouraged society to strive for a gender-equal world. IWD highlights the importance of supporting women, particularly young women and adolescent girls, empowering them to pursue opportunities and leadership roles, while also recognising the ongoing challenges that remain largely unfulfilled, such as equal pay and protection from domestic violence. The United Nations continues to play a key role in igniting global movements that push for women’s empowerment, human rights, and a more inclusive future for all.
For Douglas Partners, it is also a reminder that creating a fair and supportive workplace is not a once-a-year conversation. By celebrating IWD, we reaffirm our commitment to diversity and inclusion, and highlight the voices of our people who bring different perspectives and strengths to every project we deliver.
When is International Women’s Day and Why it Matters
International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on 8 March, with events ranging from panel discussions and community gatherings to corporate initiatives and online campaigns. These International Women’s Day celebrations aim to raise awareness of the progress women have made, while highlighting areas where work is still needed to achieve gender equality. By recognising women leaders, promoting equal work, and advocating for policies that unlock equal rights, IWD events inspire the next generation to march forward toward a feminist future. From supporting girls and young women to acknowledging the political achievements and contributions of women Australia and worldwide, International Women’s Day reminds us that building an equal future requires collective action, advocacy, and a commitment to turning promises into tangible progress.
Why International Women’s Day Matters to Us
IWD is more than a date on the calendar — it is an opportunity to stop and reflect on how equality and respect shape the way we work. Across the industry, progress has been made in areas such as education, leadership and representation. Yet, challenges remain, from pay equity to ensuring that every individual feels safe, supported and valued.
At Douglas Partners, we believe that diverse teams create better solutions. Different perspectives strengthen our technical expertise and help us deliver practical outcomes for clients and communities. By supporting initiatives like #EachforEqual, and by fostering an inclusive culture, we give our people the chance to thrive — regardless of gender, background or role.
